The UOZero Waste Program provides opportunities for student employees to engage in environmentally proactive work while gaining valuable work-related knowledge about and experience in the recycling industry. Our student employees receive a great deal of personal satisfaction and valuable professional training, all while working with a great bunch of people.

Our positions pay at the starting rate of $8.95 per hour and include a one-month trial period. Positions typically are eligible for annual raises of $0.25/hour and are based upon satisfactory performance. Operating hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend work, work during school breaks and over the summer is available.

At this time, consideration for employment is limited to those students having Work-Study or Tech-Fee financial aid funding. Typically, students work between 8 to 20 hours/week. Please provide as much availability as possible.

As is the nature of the industry in general, the work can be hard, fast-paced, challenging, and physically and professionally demanding. The program operates with a 100% part-time student workforce, and provides a vital service to the campus community, come what may. 1. Attend a mandatory 4-hour Orientation from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

2. Begin working scheduled shifts the first week of the school term.

3. Furnish a term Schedule of Availability upon application.
